A 20-year-old fast bowler passed away on the spot while playing cricket on Friday (January 26). The deceased, identified as Suhab Yaseen, was playing a cricket match in Hanjiwera area of Pattan in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir during which the incident occured. A report carried by KNS, a local news gathering agency, claims that Suhaib collapsed while in his run-up to bowl. The cricketer was taken to the hospital but was declared brought dead. 


Even though a detailed report has not yet arrived, preliminary details suggest that the youngster could have suffered a heart attack.

Ex-Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) took to X (formerly Twitter) to offer condolences to the bereaved family, confirming the tragic news.

"In the wake of tragedy, Pattan grieves the loss of Suhaib Yaseen, a spirited soul who met an untimely end on the cricket field today. The pain is shared by the entire people of Pattan. My thoughts are with Suhaib's family as they navigate this profound sorrow. May we collectively find strength & support to cope with this heartbreaking loss," he wrote on X.

Not The First Such Case In Recent Times

The incident is not a one-off case of death while playing cricket or exercising. There has been a spike in the number of such cases especially among the young populartion. Recently a video had gone viral on social media in which an engineer in his mid 30s was captured collapsing in the middle of the pitch while playing a cricket match in Noida. The man, identified as Vikas Negi, passed away due to a heart attack.
