As India prepares for the upcoming two-match IND vs BAN Test series, starting on September 19 at Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium, rising star Yashasvi Jaiswal has a unique opportunity to set a new world record.

The 22-year-old is just 8 sixes away from breaking New Zealand legend Brendon McCullum's record for the most sixes in a calendar year in Test cricket.

Yashasvi, who made his Test debut in July 2023, quickly cemented his place in Team India's Test squad. He first featured during the West Indies tour and has since showcased impressive form.

In just 9 Test matches for the Indian cricket team, Jaiswal has so far scored 1,028 runs at an average of 68.53 and a remarkable strike rate of 70.07. His stats includes three centuries, four half-centuries, and a double century.

England's star all-rounder Ben Stokes came close to breaking Brendon McCullum's record, but no one has managed to surpass it yet.

Now, Yashasvi Jaiswal has a prime opportunity to not only break this record but set a new benchmark that could be hard to match

In 2024, Jaiswal has already hit 26 sixes in Test cricket, equaling Ben Stokes' total from 2022. With nine more Test matches scheduled for India this year, and Jaiswal expected to play in all of them, he is set to make history.

If Jaiswal hits just eight more sixes, he will surpass McCullum's world record of 33 sixes in Test cricket in a calendar year. Given his current form, he could push this record to a level that may stand for years to come.
