India and Bangladesh are set to square off in the first of the two Test matches on September 19 (Thursday). Ahead of the much-anticipated series which comes after a bit of a break for Team India and Bangladesh's historic series win over Pakistan, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced India's squad for the two-match home series.
While the squad largely revolves around expected lines, Yash Dayal, the fast bowler who conceded five sixes in an over in IPL 2023, has earned a maiden India call-up. Yash Dayal's redemption arc has been nothing short of exemplary and being smashed for 5 sixes in an over in the last over of the IPL 2023 league-stage match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the then Gujarat Titans (GT) seamer fell ill.

The then GT skipper Hardik revealed in a later match that his health deteriorated and he wasn't in a condition to take the field.
"He fell ill and lost 7-8 kg after that match. There was a spread of viral infection during that period and also, due to the pressure he had faced, his condition is presently not good enough to take the field. Someone's loss is someone's gain at the end of the day. It is going to take some time before we see him on the field," Hardik told Star Sports in an interaction.

However, Dayal did not give up. He may have been released by GT in the auction pool but was bagged by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for Rs 5 crore and was outstanding in the manner in which he performed. In 14 matches for the franchise, he scalped 15 wickets with a best of 3/20.

It is Dayal's performance in IPL as well as his numbers in domestic cricket that has helped him put the one bad over against Rinku Singh behind him and force a way into the Indian test team.
