INDW-U19 vs BANW-U19: India Women defeated Bangladesh Women by eight wickets in their first match of the ICC Under 19 Women's T20 World Cup 2025 Super Six stage on January 26 (Sunday) at the Bayuemas Oval, Kuala Lumpur. After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, the Niki Prasad-led Women in Blue put up an incredible bowling performance to restrict Bangladesh to just 64-8 in 20 overs. With the win, India Women remain unbeaten in the tournament and also secure their semifinals berth.

Bangladesh’s sub-par batting was dented further by two run-outs as Sadia Islam and Afia Ashima both lost their wickets while running between the wickets.

After being put in to bat first, Bangladesh received an early jolt in the very first over as India’s Shabnam Shakil got rid of Mosammat Eva on the very third ball of the first innings. From then on, there was no recovery for the Bangladesh batters as Vaishnavi Sharma ripped through their batting, claiming three wickets, along with contributions from Joshitha V J and Gongadi Trisha.

Chasing 65 runs, India got off to a decent start, provided by Gongadi Trisha but lost opener G Kamalini in the fourth over. However, undeterred Trisha went on to score a 31-ball 40 runs knock before being dismissed in the seventh over. Captain Niki Prasad hit the winning runs as she slammed a boundary to Bangladesh’s Jannatul Maoua, taking India over the line in 7.1 overs.

India Women will next play against Scotland Women on January 28 and will look to win the match to go into the semifinals as an unbeaten team.
