India defeated Bangladesh in the IND vs BAN Kanpur Test to claim the two-match Test series 2-0. In what was a rain-affected game, India staged a brilliant aggressive play with bat and ball to force a result in their favour on the last two days of the Test. However, what was also on full display was their athleticism in the field. India’s fielding was on-point, highlighted by several outstanding catches, for which two Indian players won the customary fielder of the series award presented by India’s fielding coach, T Dilip.
Team India upheld their dressing room tradition of presenting the best fielder of the series medal after each bilateral series. However, this time they broke from the usual practice by awarding the medal to not just one, but two fielders. India’s fielding coach, T Dilip, praised the team’s exceptional fielding efforts during their dominant win over Bangladesh. He highlighted impressive catches taken by players such as Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Mohammed Siraj.

Siraj, Jaiswal Win Best Fielders Of The Series Award, Edging Out Rohit & Rahul
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) uploaded a video of the dressing room proceedings where T Dilip can be seen declaring Jaiswal and Siraj as the winners of the ‘Impact Fielder of the Series’ medal. Jaiswal claimed four catches, while Siraj took two, edging out captain Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul for the award.
"Turning every moment to an opportunity to make a difference and to be a password reviewer, it's outstanding and it's none other than Mohammed Siraj. Yeah, very good! Contender number three, when it comes to catching, I think he is as reliable as Swiss watch, and he is Rohit Sharma" said T Dilip.
"I think someone who has really shown his strong reflexes and really has very very composed when it comes to catching everything. KL Rahul has done some very excellent work. I think this time around we are two winners for this because I felt the effort at which we went about and Rohit said our catching percentage in these two tests was 97% which is really appreciable. I thought two people deserved this medal and someone who had every game passed on showed a lot of intent and none other than Yashasvi Jaiswal and Mohammed Siraj" T Dilip added.
Siraj's One-Handed Stunner That Sent Shakib Al Hasan Packing
Notably, Siraj took a sensational one-handed catch on Day 4 of the Kanpur Test to get rid of Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan. Siraj, positioned at mid-off, nearly misjudged the catch while backpedalling with the ball in the air, but displayed remarkable athleticism by leaping backward and pulling off a one-handed stunner over his head, videos of which went viral on social media.
