Virat Kohli continued his good run in the match against Bangladesh on Wednesday in the Group 2 match of the Super 12 stage. He scored 64 runs in just 44 balls with the help of eight fours and one six at the  Adelaide Oval.

Virat Kohli scored his third half-century in the ongoing T20 World Cup. He also became the leading run-getter in the T20 World Cup this year. He amassed 220 runs in four innings at an average of 220.00 and a strike rate of 144.74.

After Virat Kohli’s heroics, skipper Rohit Sharma heaped praises on Virat Kohli and said, "In my opinion, he was always there; it was a matter of a few innings here and there, and he got it in the Asia Cup. We never had any doubts, and the way he has been batting in this World Cup has been tremendous, and he is really doing it for us (on Kohli)”.

"Also liked the way KL played today. We know what sort of player he is; if he bats the way he can, he puts the team in a different position. Our fielding was brilliant, and some of the catches we took were great to watch. It's a high-pressure game, and to take those catches shows the ability of our guys, and honestly, I never had any doubts about our fielding," he added.

Earlier, Suryakumar Yadav became the number 1 T20I batter.  "Yadav's 51 not out off 25 balls against the Netherlands in Sydney and a valiant 68 off 40 against South Africa in Perth have helped him overtake New Zealand's Devon Conway and Pakistan's Mohammad Rizwan, who had held the top spot since 4 September this year," ICC said in a release.
