The Indian cricket team returns to action after a long 43-day break with the eagerly-awaited India vs Bangladesh Test series. 


India vs Bangladesh 1st Test is scheduled to take place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on September 19th. Ahead of IND vs BAN series opener, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma spoke at a press conference, underscoring IND vs BAN Test series' importance for the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.

Rohit addressed questions regarding KL Rahul, offering insights on Rahul's role and future in the team.


In the press conference ahead of IND vs BAN Chennai Test, Rohit said, "Playing for the country, every match holds its importance. This is not a dress rehearsal for Border-Gavaskar (Ind vs Aus) Test series. We need to focus on securing points for the World Test Championship. It's crucial to start the series on a strong note."


KL Rahul's return to the Indian squad for IND vs BAN 1st Test in Chennai has sparked debate regarding his selection. However, captain Rohit Sharma has come forward to back the keeper-batter.


"We all know the quality of Rahul, he has got the talent - it's important we give a clear message - since he came back, he scored a Hundred in South Africa, 80+ in Hyderabad then, unfortunately, got injured. KL Rahul has the game to do well in Test Cricket.


"I'm sure he can flourish and I see no reason he can't be successful in Test Cricket," Rohit said.
