India continued their winning momentum in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup by defeating Bangladesh in their second group fixture played at the WACA in Perth.
Team India's win came at the back of an all-round performance headlined by Veda Krishnamurthy's quick-fire cameo and a stellar bowling performance led by spinner Poonam Yadav.
After setting Bangladesh a daunting 143-run target, India restricted Bangladesh to 124-8 in their 20 overs , winning the encounter by 18 runs. Bangladesh's chase was dented by regular wickets by the Indian bowlers. While Indian seamer Shikha Pandey removed Shikha Pandey early, Murshida Khatun kept the scoreboard ticking with a quick-fire 30 runs.
Once Arundhati Reddy dismissed Khatun, Bangladesh innings derailed with Sanjida Islam and Fargana Hoque falling in quick succesion. Wicket-keeper batsman Nigar Sultana offered some resistance but Rajeshwari Gayakwad got the priced scalp. Spinner Poonam Yadav got into the act when she got into the act with two quick wickets and take India close to victory.
With two wins on the trot, India are a win away from securing a berth in the semifinals.India will play their next group match against New Zealand on Feb 27th.
