New Delhi: The Men in Blue suffered a huge blow when skipper Rohit Sharma sustained an injury during the second ODI against Bangladesh in Mirpur on Wednesday. He had a thumb injury while fielding. Post that, the medical team of BCCI evaluated and took him for scans.

Rohit was fielding at the second slip and he looked to catch the ball and as a result, he injured his thumb. He was quickly taken off and  Rajat Patidar came in his place.

"India Captain Rohit Sharma suffered a blow to his thumb while fielding in the 2nd ODI. The BCCI Medical Team assessed him. He has now gone for scans," the BCCI later said in a tweet.

Earlier, Litton Das won the toss and decided to bat first at the  Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Wednesday. Mehidy Hasan’s brilliant knock of 100 in just 83 balls helped Bangla Tigers put 271/7 in their 50 overs. He smashed eight boundaries and four huge sixes.

India lost the first ODI by one wicket and now they will be looking to win the match.

"We have two changes. Axar Patel is back and he replaces Shahbaz Ahmed. Kuldeep Sen is not available for selection, so we have got Umran Malik in place of him. Going back to the drawing board and understanding how we need to play on these conditions, just the basic talk about what we need to do with the bat and how to handle certain bowlers. Had good training session yesterday, and hopefully we can come out and replicate those learnings," Rohit Sharma said at the toss.
