The cricket fans across the nation are eagerly waiting to see Virat and his boys take on Bangladesh in the first Test in Indore on Thursday. However, the Indian skipper seemed to be in a good space of mind before the game as he addressed the press at Holkar Stadium and hailed his pace battery.

“If you ask me, we are right at the top. I would not even count us among three and these guys deserve it. As a captain, when we started off that was the conversation and that was the one thing in mind that I really wanted to see that our fast bowlers should dominate world cricket,” Kohli said in the pre-match presser on Wednesday.

Kohli said post-retirement of Zaheer Khan and other 'stalwarts', they were worried but now, looking at the current scenario, he could not be happier.

“Batting was never an issue, spin was never an issue. After Zack (Zaheer Khan) and all these stalwarts went away, we were thinking about how we can get back to the top and have the ability to pick 20 wickets. So, just seeing the way they bowl, it is the belief that stands out,” he said.

Amid these positives, the only challenge waiting for them when they take on Bangladesh will be to keep up with those standards.

“The challenge would be to keep up to those standards again and play that kind of cricket again which, I feel, the guys are in the frame of mind to do that. They are hungry, everyone looks very happy, anticipating the Test match,” Kohli said.

So far, India have played five Test matches, two against West Indies and three against South Africa, in the Championship and have won all of them. The Men in Blue have 240 points, 180 points ahead of second-placed New Zealand.
