At Stumps on Day 2, India were reeling at 151/1 in response to Australia's first innings score of 469, trailing by 318 runs, with Rahane unbeaten on 29 off 71 and KS Bharat batting on 5 off 14.
Team India's last recognised batting pair -- Shardul Thakur and Ajinkya Rahane -- batted with calm and composure, showing positive intent that made the difference for India on Day 3. Rahane and Shardul stitched a solid 100-run stand for India - 6th century partnership for seventh wicket or below for India in England.
