It was the same story which repeated itself in a crunch knockout game for Team India as their top-order failed once again in their first innings of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final at the Oval in London. While Australia were put in to bat first under overcast conditions and ended up posting 469 in the first innings, thanks to centuries from Travis Head and Steve Smith, India were reduced were 71/4 with the big guns- Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara all failing to make a significant contribution with the bat. Even Shubman Gill, who had a tremendous IPL 2023, couldn't replicate his form and got out cheaply.
Fans though were particularly displeased with Kohli who scored 14 off 31 balls in the first innings. Some fans even shared memes of Kohli enjoying his food after getting out in the summit clash. While the right-handed batter was getting back to his peak form across formats in the build up to this game, he failed in the first innings with his team banking on his experience to come good. However, Kohli has seemingly responded to all the criticism that he has to face on social media in his latest Instagram story.
"You must develop the ability to be disliked in order to free yourself from the prison of other peoples' opinions," he shared a tweet by Mark Manson in a story which has gone viral.
Here is Kohli's Instagram story:
At the end of the day's play, India were 151/5 with Ajinkya Rahane and Srikar Bharat unbeaten. The two have resumed India's innings on Day 3 (Friday) at the Oval in London where the team will first look to reduce the first innings deficit before hoping to save or even produce a win from this situation. India were trailing by 318 runs when the play had stopped on Thursday (June 8).
