The attacking left handed opener seemed to back his seasoned partner Joe Burns as his preferred choice to open the innings against a formidable Indian bowling lineup in the Border Gavaskar series.
However, Warner also lavished praise on young opening batsman Will Pucovski stating that his stellar performances with the willow in the domestic season led to him making a strong case for breaking into the Australian playing XI.
Giving his take on who would he be happy with opening the innings against India in the 4-match Test series, Warner had this to say about Joe Burns and Will Pucovski
"But as we know it's harder to get out of this team than get in. I didn't think Joe did anything wrong last summer. We had some great partnerships. "That's what you want from your opening partnership. And at the end of the day I have to be happy with it and embrace whoever they pick."

Victoria's rising batting sensation Will Pucovski was picked up in the Test squad for India series on the back of his prolific run scoring exploits in the Sheffield Shield matches which saw him amassing 495 runs.
"If they go the way of Will, he has been batting fantastic and been in and out of the test squad," Warner said. "He is in the right frame of mind at the moment. It probably is an opportunity for him to come into the team.
Burns and Warner contributed heavily with the willow in Australia inflicting series whitewash over Pakistan and New Zealand as the opening duo averaged a staggering 50 the top of the order in the Test matches played in their backyard during the last summer.
