The fourth and the final Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is all set to get underway at the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday. While there is much to look forward to from the cricketing context in this series, more eyeballs are expected to be on this game as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to watch Day 1's action along with the Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
In a recent update, it is now being learnt that PM Modi could be present at the toss along with his Australian counterpart and might even give the coin at the toss before the start of the final Test match of the series. The same has been confirmed in a report by news agency ANI.
The report cited a radio interview with NOVA 93.7 Perth in which the Australian Prime Minister Albanese has confirmed that he and PM Modi will be at the toss.
“There is a lot of pressure on because myself and Prime Minister Modi are tossing the coin,” the transcript of his interview read on the official website of the PM.
However, he seemed unsure if it was him or Albanese who was going to toss the coin.
Meanwhile, another report has suggested that Modi could do commentary in this Test match. PM Modi had already been at the world's largest cricket ground before while Albanese's visit is a part of the celebrations concerning to 75 years of Indo-Australia friendship.
While India are 2-1 ahead in the series, a place at the World Test Championship final is at stake for the Men inBlue. Australia's victory in Indore, by contrast, has already helped them seal a place in the summit clash of the 2021-23 WTC cycle.
If India fail to win the final Test match in Ahmedabad though, they can still seal a place in the WTC final but will have to depend on the result of the Sri Lanka-New Zealand Test match.
