Continuing his promising form, Indian skipper Virat Kohli added another feather in his hat during the third ODI against Australia in Ranchi on Friday. The moment he ran the 27th run of his magnificent innings, Kohli became the 4th Indian batsman to complete 4000 ODI runs as a captain. He is also the 12th ODI captain in the world to do so.

Having done this marvel in just 63 innings, he also became the fastest captain to do so in the 50-over format. In due course, he surpassed AB de Villiers (77 inns) and MS Dhoni (100 inns) to top the list.

However, Dhoni still tops the list of Indian captains with most runs in ODIs. Dhoni scored 6641 runs during his captaincy while Virat has just crossed 4000 runs. Between these two, there stand Mohammad Azharuddin (5169) and Sourav Ganguly (5105).

While chasing a mammoth 314-run target, the Indian skipper slammed the 41st century of his ODI career, 9 more required going past Sachin Tendulkar’s all-time record. With this feat, Kohli has completed 500 runs this year so far.
