The superstar of the south industry Rajinikanth will be marking his presence on the ground to watch the first ODI of the three-match series at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

“I had invited legendary actor Rajnikant ji, and he has accepted our request. It will be a great honor for us as he will be coming to Wankhede Stadium after a long time,” MCA president Amol Kale said.

Superstar Rajinikanth's presence in Mumbai’s Wankhede will bolster the confidence of Hardik Pandya’s led Indian team as most of the players are fans of the South Indian legend.

Talking about the match, both India and Australia will be playing without their regular captains. Hardik Pandya will see the proceedings for the Indian team for the first time in the ODIs in absence of Rohit Sharma. While Australia will be led by Steve Smith as Pat Cummins opted to stay at home post his mother’s death.

Earlier, team India sealed the Border-Gavaksar Trophy by 2-1. In the first two Test matches, India gained a facile win while Australia made a comeback by winning the third Test match. The fourth and final Test match took place in Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad where the match ended in a draw. Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill played a blinder of innings as the two ended up getting their tons. Kohli registered his 28 century in the Test format and got to a total of 75 centuries across formats.  While Usman Khwaja and Cameron Green starred for Australia.

The Indian team also made it into the WTC final as New Zealand defeated Sri Lanka in a Christchurch Test. India will now play the WTC final as they will be taking on Australia at the Oval in London from June 7-11.
