India posted a below-par 255-run total in the first ODI of the 3-match series against Australia at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Put into bat by the Australian skipper Aaron Finch, the visitors  struck early with left-arm seamer Mitchell Starc dismissing the dangerous opener Rohit Sharma.

KL Rahul then stitched a century partnership with Shikhar Dhawan for the second wicket to help the home team lay a strong foundation.

Against the run of play, spinner Ashton Agar dismissed KL Rahul at the stroke of his half ton. Indian skipper Kohli who came to bat at No.4 did not last long after holing a simple catch to spinner Adam Zampa.Shreyas Iyer followed the skipper soon as Mitchell Starc scalped him for 4.

Wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja offered some resistance lower down the order but the Australian seamers dismissed them to prevent any late flourish. Kuldeep Yadav hit a spree of boundaries to help the host reach a respectable score.

While Shikhar Dhawan top scored for India with a 74-run knock, Mitchell Starc was the pick of the Australian bowlers picking up 3 wickets. Cummins and Richardson chipped in with two wickets each for the Australians.
