Afghanistan Would Be Content but they looked set for a lot more than they eventually did especially during the 121-run stand between Hashmatullah Shahidi and Azmatullah Omarzai but Bumrah's spell at the back end helped make India a recoevery of sorts. The hosts need 273 to win in Delhi. They have the class, depth and experience to chase that down but their batting got off to a nightmarish start in their World Cup opener against Australia before they eventually found a way to get over the line. Will it be an improved top-order show against Afghanistan who have a formidable spin-bowling attack themselves? Let's find out. STAY TUNED FOR THE RUN-CHASE. Coming in just a bit

Batting first here at New Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium could be key, but last time out here Afghanistan didn't cause much damage to Bangladesh even after batting first. India's top order in recent ODIs has been quite shaky. We are surely in for an interesting match.
Afghanistan (Playing XI): Rahmanullah Gurbaz(w), Ibrahim Zadran, Rahmat Shah, Hashmatullah Shahidi(c), Najibullah Zadran, Mohammad Nabi, Azmatullah Omarzai, Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Naveen-ul-Haq, Fazalhaq Farooqi
India (Playing XI): Rohit Sharma(c), Ishan Kishan, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul(w), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj
Rohit Sharma: We were looking to bat second. We saw the amount of dew last evening. Don't think the wicket will change much. Need to bowl well and need to come back and bat better. We were under pressure to start with, but KL and Kohli batted well, we take a lot of pride. It was a good game for us, hopefully we can repeat that and keep the momentum going forward. Ashwin misses out, Shardul Thakur comes in for him.
Shahidi: We will bat first. It looks like a good batting surface. We have a good bowling attack to restrict them. It looks like a good surface, we want to bounce back with the bat. We are enjoying, good chance to showcase our talent. We are going with the same team.
Afghanistan wins the toss, asks India to bowl first.
Shardul Thakur is warming up! No place for Shami in India XI?

Hello and welcome to India vs Afghanistan ODI World Cup 2023 live coverage.
Background
India vs Afghanistan ICC Cricket World Cup Match Live Updates: Hello and welcome to live coverage of IND vs AFG ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 match. India vs Afghanistan ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023 match will take place on October 11, 2023 at 14:00 IST at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. India vs Afghanistan ODI World Cup 2023 match is expected to be a thriller.
For today's India vs Afghanistan ODI World Cup fixture, India has an option in veteran pacer Mohammed Shami, who notably claimed a hat-trick in this matchup four years ago. However, bringing in Mohammed Shami will force India to sacrificing some batting depth, which could be a concern given India's unconvincing start against Australia. Alternatively, the Indian team management might consider bringing in Shardul Thakur, in-form pace bowling all-rounder, as an alternative. Shubman, still on the road to recovery after contracting dengue a few days ago, remains unavailable following his recent hospitalization in Chennai.
In terms of tactics and strategy, the Indian cricket team for sure will take on Afghanistan's fast bowlers more aggressively, considering Afghanistan's strength in spin bowling. The team batting second will definitely have an advantage here in Delhi due to the 'dew factor'.
Afghanistan lost their opening match in ODI World Cup 2023 but this might not lead to the team making immediate changes to their lineup. However, they could consider introducing a left-arm wrist spinner like Noor Ahmad, who could be effective against the predominantly right-handed Indian batting lineup.
