Gros Islet (St Lucia): West Indies collapsed on the final day as India won the third test by 237 runs on Saturday to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the four-match series.

India earlier declared its second innings on 217-7 — with an overall lead of 345 — after needing just nine overs in the morning session to increase its score from 157-3 overnight.

West Indies faced the daunting task of batting through the rest of the fifth day — just to avoid defeat — and wasn't up to the task.

Only Darren Bravo was able to put up resistance, scoring 59, as West Indies was all out in its second innings for 108 off 47.3 overs.

Kraigg Brathwaite (4), Leon Johnson (0) and Marlon Samuels (12) were dismissed with the hosts in deep trouble on 35-3.

Roston Chase (10) and Bravo were able to stem the flow of wickets for a short while. But when Chase was dismissed by Sharma to make it 64-4, India quickly went through the rest of the West Indies line-up in what was a show of impressive bowling and dreadful batting.

Jermaine Blackwood (1), Shane Dowrich (5) and captain Jason Holder (run out on 1) were dismissed within minutes of each other, and with them went any hope of West Indies salvaging anything from the match.

West Indies was eventually dismissed toward the end of the afternoon session, Shannon Gabriel the last man to fall with a comparatively impressive 11. He was caught at deep mid-wicket by Bhuvneshwar Kumar off Ravindra Jadeja's bowling.

The whole bowling performance was outstanding for India as the tourists outclassed their opposition. Mohammed Shami was the pick of the bowlers with 3-15 from 11 overs, including the vital wicket of Bravo, caught by Rohit Sharma.

The final match of the series starts Aug. 18 in Trinidad.
