Kane Williamson-led New Zealand recently finished as the runners-up in the recently concluded ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. They lost to England on the basis of boundary countback rule as both 50-over action and super over ended up in a tie.

Adjudged as the player of the tournament, Williamson finished WC campaign with 578 runs and received the award from batting legend Sachin Tendulkar as he became the captain with most number of runs in a single World Cup.

The 'calm and composed' Williamson, who turned 29 on Thursday, showed why he has a heart of gold as he agreed to cut and eat a cake brought by the Sri Lankan fans during a practice match between New Zealand and Sri Lanka Board President's XI in Katunayake.

New Zealand's Test series against Sri Lanka marks the start of ICC World Test Championship for the Kiwis.

The Sri Lankan team were 323-6 at stumps on day 1 of our warm-up game at Marians in Colombo. Kiwi left-arm finger-spinner Ajaz Patel (5-40) bagged five wickets to slow Sri Lanka A after they posted a 154-run opening stand.
