Stokes captioned the post "A summer to remember for a lot of things....things that would not of been possible without the support of my amazing family, through the highs and lows you have always been there for me and I appreciate everything you all do for me...I LOVE YOU @clarey11 #Layts #Libbs".
Stokes had a memorable Ashes 2019 as he played one of the greatest innings ever seen in 142 years of Test history that saw England attain a staggering one-wicket win in the third Ashes Test at Headingley. Earlier this summer, the England all-rounder had played a crucial role in England's historic maiden World Cup victory against New Zealand at Lord's.
Recently, the star player was dragged into controversy after English news daily The Sun published an article with the headline, "STOKES' SECRET TRAGEDY " that contained very sensitive details about Stokes' family's past.
Stokes took to his social media account to slam The Sun for publishing an article, describing the article as "utterly disgusting" and the "lowest form of journalism" from the English daily.
"It is hard to find words that adequately describe such low and despicable behaviour, disguised as journalism. I cannot conceive of anything more immoral, heartless or contemptuous to the feelings and circumstances of my family," Stokes said.
