Imran Khan, Pakistan’s newly elected Prime Minister, seems to have given a new hope to his countrymen. The citizens have welcomed him with open hearts and are considering his rule as the beginning of the new era. Especially, Imran’s mates from the cricketing fraternity are counting on him with all faith and former Pakistan skipper Waqar Younis is one of them.
After Imran came in power, the issue of cricketing ties between India and Pakistan has been one of the primary concerns for the people from cricket fraternity. When asked about the future of India - Pakistan bilateral cricket series, Waqar said, “It's time to move on. We shouldn't be rigid. We should be playing more matches and I think Immy will work on this. After all, people are hungry to see India and Pakistan playing against each other.”
Waqar feels that Imran has that vision which Pakistan lagged all these years. In a conversation with Wah Cricket, Waqar said, “I think Pakistan as a nation will be changed completely in 5 years time under Imran Khan's leadership.”
“He is a great man with a vision and there are wise people around him to work. Imran spent 23 years in the politics of the country and finally, God has given him the opportunity. He is willing and doesn't carry any baggage. He is transparent and that is most important,” Waqar added.
Speaking about the struggle Imran went through to reach this historic feat, Waqar said, “23 years back nobody gave him a chance in politics. He does things which are unexpected. He can create magic. I am confident; at this level, he will be successful.”
“He is got to show the nation the path. The roadmap I mean and Imran's roadmap is clear in my opinion”, the fast bowling legend looked ecstatic when he was talking about the Pakistan Prime Minister.
Waqar is presently in Dubai to work for the host broadcaster in the ongoing Asia Cup. Pakistan kickstarted their campaign with a clinical victory against Hong Kong on Sunday. They will now gear up for the epic clash against arch-rival India on Wednesday.
