Indian skipper Virat Kohli got his name on the record books for yet another time when he registered his 53rd ODI fifty against West Indies in the 34th match of the 2019 Cricket World Cup on Thursday in Manchester. The half ton was Kohli's 4th consecutive ODI half-century in World Cup 2019.

With his fifty against the West Indies, Kohli became the first Indian captain to score four successive World Cup fifties. Kohli equalled South Africa's Graeme Smith and Australia's Aaron Finch to become the third captain in Cricket World Cup history to hit four back to back half centuries.

Graeme Smith had registered four consecutive fifties in 2007 World Cup whereas Aaron Finch equalled the South African's featin the ongoing edition. Virat Kohli has scored 67 (against Afghanistan), 82 (against Australia) and 77 (against Pakistan) in India's encounters in the ICC World Cup 2019. Kohli was dismissed for an 82-ball 72 as he ballooned to Jason Holder delivery to short mid-wicket Darren Bravo.

Kohli also became the fastest batsman to scale 20,000 international runs when he reached 37 in his 72-run knock against West Indies.
