IND vs AUS: Team India's senior spinner Ravichandran Ashwin's remarkable show in the recently-concluded Ahmedabad Test against Australia has helped him regain top spot among bowlers in the latest ICC Rankings issued on Wednesday.
Ashwin ended the IND vs AUS Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia with 25 wickets -- most by any bowler in the series. He picked six wickets for 91 runs in the first innings of 4th Test to become the highest wicket-taker in Border-Gavaskar Trophy's history. He now has 869 rating points. England's legendary pacer James Anderson is in second place with 859 rating points.
India batting legend Virat Kohli moves seven places to 13th position
Virat Kohli played a masterclass 186 runs knock in the fourth and final Test match of IND vs AUS Test series. This innings helped him gain seven places to move to13th position in ICC batsmen rankings in Tests.
The series was special for Virat as he ended his 1205-day long century drought in Test cricket by scoring a ton in the 4th Test. India's Rishabh Pant remains at ninth place while Rohit Sharma is at 10th position in the ICC Test rankings for batters. The series also saw Shubhman Gill jump 17 places to 46th. Australia's Usman Khawaja and New Zealand's Daryl Mitchell have also made notable gains in the list.
Spin all-rounder Axar Patel moves to fourth spot in all-rounder's list
Indian left-arm spinner Axar Patel climbed six places to 28 among bowlers. He also rose to the fourth spot in the all-rounder's list led by Ashwin and Jadeja.
Axar Patel scored 264 runs in Test series against Australia but didn't get a chance to bowl much. With this, he moved up two places to fourth in the all-rounders' rankings with 316 rating points. Ravindra Jadeja continues to top the list with 431 rating points. Ashwin is in second place and Shakib Al Hasan is in third place.
