In the latest ICC Test rankings, seasoned Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin maintained his position at the top of Men's Test Bowling Rrankings, holding onto the top spot with 853 rating points after a six-wicket haul in the opening India vs England Test in Hyderabad. Additionally, Jasprit Bumrah, who also secured six wickets in the same match, rose to the fourth position in the rankings with 825 points.
West Indies fast bowler Shamar Joseph and England spinner Tom Hartley have also made significant strides as well in the latest ICC Test Rankings, thanks to their outstanding match-winning performances for their respective teams. Following his remarkable seven-wicket haul in the second innings that led West Indies to a thrilling eight-run victory over Australia in Brisbane, Joseph has jumped an impressive 42 places, landing in the joint-50th position with 397 points.
Tom Hartley also delivered an impressive performance with a seven-wicket haul in the second innings of the opening Test against India, ultimately securing nine wickets in the match and contributing to a 28-run victory in Hyderabad. The 24-year-old left-arm spinner now occupies the 63rd position with 332 rating points, marking the best debut Test ranking by any England bowler.
Ollie Pope Attains Career-Best Ranking
Ollie Pope, named the Player of the Match for the 1st IND vs ENG Test, saw a significant rise of 20 positions to a career-best 15th position in the ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings, courtesy of his second innings knock of 196. Meanwhile, his teammate Ben Duckett has moved up five places to the 22nd position after contributing useful scores of 35 and 47 at the top of the order.
Indian batters KL Rahul and Yashaswi Jaiswal have made upward movements in the latest ICC rankings. KL Rahul has climbed three places to the 51st position, and Yashaswi Jaiswal has moved up three places to the 66th position after scoring 86 and 80, respectively. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli remains the lone Indian in the top 10 batters, securing the sixth position.
