New Zealand great Kane Williamson reached number one position in the latest top-10 Test batting rankings released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday (July 5). The former New Zealand captain hasn't played any international cricket ever since he got injured in the 16th season of IPL (IPL 2023). Williamson has 883 rating points in the latest ICC Test batting rankings. Australia premier Steve Smith, who scored a brilliant century in ENG vs AUS Lord's Test, has 882 rating points and is on number two.
The only Indian player in the top-10 of ICC Test rankings for batters is wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant, who has not been able to return to the field since his car accident in December last year. Apart from Steve Smith, other Australian batters in top-10 are Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head at number 3 and 4 position, respectively, and on the number 7 is opener Usman Khawaja.
India's Ravichandran Ashwin retains No. 1 bowler position in Tests
Team India's senior off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin managed to retain his number-1 position in the latest ICC Test rankings for bowlers. Ashwin currently has 860 ratings. Australian captain Pat Cummins is in second position with 826 rating points. Apart from Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja are other Indian bowlers in top-10, at 8th and 9th positions, respectively.
India's Ravindra Jadeja secured number one spot in all-rounder rankings
In the Test rankings for all-rounders, the spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin occupy the first 2 places. Jadeja is in first place with 434 rating points, while Ashwin is in second place with 352 rating points. England's Joe Root enters the list as well and is on the 7th position in the ranking of all-rounder players with 272 rating points.
