New Delhi: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday confirmed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has retained its due rights and is all set to host the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in India in 2021. On the other hand, Australia, who were supposed to host the 2022 edition, will now host the 2020 edition two years later in 2022 due to the postponement of the event owing to the Coronavirus pandemic. ALSO READ | England White-Ball Tour To India Postponed Until Early 2021, Confirms BCCI


After discussing the final conclusion via teleconference earlier today, the ICC Board released a statement saying "The International Cricket Council (ICC) today confirmed that the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020 that was postponed due to COVID-19 will be held in Australia in 2022. India will host the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 as planned."

As per the latest development, India has been scheduled to host the T20 World Cup in October-November with the final to be held on November 14. Australia on the other hand will host the flagship of the T20 event in October-November with the final on November 13.



The COVID-19 induced pandemic has also led to the postponement of Women's World Cup which was scheduled to be held from February 6 to March 7 in New Zealand. Going by the latest updates in the schedule, the ICC has delayed the Women's World Cup until 2022 in the wake of the novel Coronavirus pandemic.

Besides this, the 50-over World Cup will be held in India in 2023 between October and November with the final on November 26.

In another development, BCCI and ECB have confirmed that England men’s white-ball tour to India, originally scheduled in the ICC Future Tours Programme for late September to early October 2020, will be postponed until early 2021.
