During the third and the final ODI between Sri Lanka Women and India Women, at least 5 Indian nationals were to leave the venue by the Sri Lanka Cricket authorities on Sunday. They were asked to do so following a ‘suspected behaviour’ during the game.

As stated by the local officials, all five of them were handed over to the police for interrogation.

“They were seen talking on their mobile phones throughout the match. When questioned they said they were informing those back home on the game,” an official, who did not want to be named, said.

The police have been questioning them to find out if they had any connections with bookies.

Last month, several suspicious Indian and Pakistani nationals were similarly asked to leave the venues of the domestic T20 competition.

Sri Lanka won the high scoring final match by three wickets in the final over of the match, leaving India the series winner by 2-1. The ODIs were a part of the ICC's Women's Championships which will determine the three automatic qualifiers for the 2021 Women's World Cup.
