ICC Bans Pitch Invader Jarvo From World Cup 2023 Matches After IND-AUS Disruption

Jarvo, a well-known social media personality and serial pitch invader, was intercepted by stadium security personnel at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Infamous social media influencer and pitch invader Daniel Jarvis, also known as Jarvo 69, has been officially prohibited from attending any further matches in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. This action was taken in response to his intrusion during the India vs. Australia match on October 8 in Chennai.

Jarvo, a well-known social media personality and serial pitch invader, was intercepted by stadium security personnel at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. He had entered the ground wearing India's blue jersey just before the commencement of their World Cup match against Australia.

Following this incident, the ICC imposed a ban on Jarvo, preventing him from attending any more matches in the tournament. Questions have arisen about how he managed to gain access to the VIP area and breach multiple layers of security to enter the Field of Play (FOP).

An ICC spokesperson commented on the situation, stating, "The individual concerned has been banned from attending any further games at the event and the matter is in the hands of the Indian authorities" in response to PTI's inquiry about the security breach.

This marked the fourth instance in which the Englishman, known for causing disruptions at various venues in the UK, managed to breach security during a match involving the Indian cricket team.

The incident likely left both the ICC and BCCI feeling embarrassed. Jarvo, dressed in an India jersey, casually entered the venue just as the Indian team was preparing for their pre-match march, seemingly attempting to approach India's superstar, Virat Kohli.

Initially taken aback, the Indian team's security officer swiftly apprehended the individual and escorted him out of the venue, while Kohli appeared unamused by the intrusion. Jarvo had previously been banned from English cricket grounds after repeatedly exploiting security weaknesses in England's security system during the 2021 series against India.

Considering his notoriety, Jarvis has often been detained by security but has not faced serious consequences.

In response to the incident, an ICC spokesperson issued a statement to PTI, saying, "The safety and security of everyone involved in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 is our priority. We will work with the venue to understand what happened and consider if any additional security measures are required to prevent it happening again”.
