New Delhi: Indian skipper Mithali Raj announced her retirement from World Cup but insisted that she will continue to play cricket in near future. Her statement came after India’s defeat to England in ICC Women’s World Cup at Lord’s.

Talking at a post match presentation, Mithali said, “I would play for a couple of more years but I don't see myself playing the next World Cup.”

The 34-year-old who made her debut in 1999 has represented India in 185 ODI matches and she is the only Indian to lead India in two World Cup finals.

Recently, the right hand batsman became the first women cricket to cross 6000-run mark.

Mithali also has 10 Test caps to her name and played 63 T20’s for India.
