Former India legend Sunil Gavaskar is one of the respected commentators in world cricket. After bidding adieu to international cricket in the 1980s, Gavaskar shifted his base to commentary. Because of his deep understanding of the game, he is widely considered as one of the best voices of cricket.

However, Gavaskar was involved in a controversy when he questioned Australia's stand-in skipper Steve Smith. It was on day 1 of India vs Australia 4th Test in Ahmedabad when Gavaskar asked Matthew Hayden in the commentary box,  "I haven't seen much of Steve Smith. Is he a compulsive puller?”.

The incident transpired after the Tea break when India’s speedster Umesh Yadav bowled consecutive bouncers to Smith to get rid of him. The fact that the former India cricketer questioned Smith, who played a lot of crucial knocks in India many times, annoyed the fans. Soon, after Gavaskar’s comments, Twitter went berserk and started making fun of cricketer-turned commentator.

Here are the Twitter reactions:

Australia resumed day 2 from 255/4. Usman Khwaja scored 150 with Cameroon Green reaching to his maiden Test century on day 2. Both the batters have been playing fantastic cricket and hitting the Indian bowlers all around the park.

“A lot of emotion in that. I have been to India two tours before this and carried the drinks for eight Test matches, so it was a long journey to finally hit a hundred in India," Khawaja told broadcaster Star Sports.

"As an Australian, that's what you want to tick off, so it's very special."

Earlier, after winning the toss, the Kangaroos opted to bat first and ended the day on 255/4 after Usman Khawaja played a blinder and returned to the pavilion after scoring an unbeaten 104 runs.
