The Sri Lankan Cricket team are currently on a tour of England with the first of the three-match Test series being played at the Old Trafford Stadium in England. However, many Indian fans were surprised to notice a player of Indian origin turn up for the Three Lion as a 12th man. The player happened to be Harry Singh whose father is a former India international cricketer. Harry Singh was used as a substitute fielder in the match but the question may arise as to who is this cricketer and how did he end up being the 12th man for England.
Notably, Harry Singh is the son of former India cricketer Rudra Pratap Singh (RP Singh). Make no mistake while this RP Singh is also a left-arm seamer who opened the bowling for India and represented Uttar Pradesh in the domestic circuit, this is the not the star who featured in the T20 World Cup 2007 but a senior namesake of his who did a similar role, although less successfully, in the 1980s.

As far as RP Singh Senior is concerned, he only went on to represent India in 2 ODIs in which he managed to scalp a wicket. However, he had a great first-class career to boast of, picking 150 wickets from 59 Test matches. He scored 1,413 runs in his first-class career and even had a century to his credit as his highest score of 141 suggests.
After announcing his retirement from cricket, RP Singh delved into coaching. He was associated with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and started giving training to Lancashire county. In 1990s, RP Singh shifted base to England and it was in 2004 that his son Harry was born in the United Kingdom (UK).
Harry Singh Made His Debut For Lancashire In 2004
Meanwhile, Harry Singh made his debut for Lancashire earlier this year in 2004. He played all the 7 matches of the One Day Cup this year in which he chipped in with both bat and ball. Harry had earlier made a place for himself in the England Under-19 side. In his young career so far, Harry has even got the opportunity to open for Lancashire.
