After Smriti Mandhana set the Kia Super League on fire, breaking every possible batting record in the T20 tournament, India T20 captain Harmanpreet Kaur took to herself in keeping the Indian flag flying high in the tournament in England.
Off-colour in the tournament till Tuesday, Kaur announced her return to form by slamming a fantastic 74 off just 44 balls against Yorkshire Diamonds. Kaur’s swashbuckling inning helped her side Lancashire Thunder win the match by 9 runs and stay alive in the race to the knockouts.
Coming in to bat at no.4, the right-hander slammed six sixes and four boundaries, scoring at a strike rate of 168.18.
Kaur stood her ground even as wickets continued to fall from the other end after her third wicket stand wicket stand with Nicole Bolton (46) was broken. Kaur got out in the penultimate ball of the Lancashire but by then she had ensured Thunders a score in excess of 150.
