Hardik Pandya has reprtedly recovered from his prevailong injury and willl most likely be taking the charge of team India against Afghanistan in the upcoming T20I's in 2024. According to Times of India, Hardik Pandya has fully recovered from his ankle injury and has started training on a regular basis.
The former Gujarat Titans captain was traded to Mumbai Indians days before the IPL 2024 Auction in an all-cash deal of 15 crore. The transfer was a subject to criticism from fans and the saga added much fuel to the fire when Mumbai Indians appointed the all-rounder as the captain of the franchise and thereby replaced the legendary Rohit Sharma. The injury woes of the Indian all-rounder have been quite constant throughout his career and was recently, as per the reports, was expected to even miss the entire IPL 2024 season. Hardik's fitness was a major talk for the past month and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) were too monitoring the progress of the all-rounder.
“We are monitoring it (Pandya’s fitness) on a day-to-day basis. He is at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) only. He is working very hard, and we will let you know in due course the moment he is fit. Hardik could be fit before the Afghanistan series also,” said Jay Shah, Honorary Secretary of BCCI.
The five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) winner suffered an ankle injury during India’s 2023 ODI World Cup League stage match against Bangladesh in Pune last November. The seriousness and the nature of the injury became severe and subsequently forced Hardik Pandya to miss the remainder of the World Cup, followed by the tour of South Africa.
The T20I series with Afghanistan will be a three-match series to be played in India, starting January 11 and return of Hardik Pandya will boost the team's morale as they aim to prepare for the upcoming T20I World Cup.
