Hardik Pandya ruled out ODI World Cup 2023: In what comes as a massive setback to India's ODI World Cup 2023 campaign, their star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 tournament. Pandya sustained a left ankle injury while bowling in India's ICC Cricket World Cup match against Bangladesh, last month, in Pune. It has now been officially confirmed that the 30-year-old has been unable to recover in time and won't participate in team India's remaining ODI World Cup 2023 matches. India is scheduled to go up against South Africa and Netherlands before taking part in ODI World Cup 2023 semifinals.
Prasidh Krishna, the young inexperienced fast bowler, has been brought in to replace Pandya in India's ODI World Cup 2023 squad. ICC Cricket World Cup Event Technical Committee approved this change on Saturday. This means that Krishna is available for selection for Sunday's (November 5) high-octane India vs South Africa ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 fixture in Kolkata's Eden Gardens. It is highly unlikely that the youngster will get a chance in India 11 vs South Africa as he competes against likes of Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah, all in great form.

"Tough to digest the fact that I will miss out on the remaining part of the World Cup. I'll be with the team, in spirit, cheering them on every ball of every game. Thanks for all the wishes, the love, and the support has been incredible. This team is special and I'm sure we'll make everyone proud. Love, always, HP," Pandya wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Winner of Sunday's IND vs SA ODI World Cup 2023 match will be in the box seat to finish the group stage of ODI World Cup 2023 in first position.
