A Lahore based woman Hamiza Mukhtar has filed a case of harrasment and exploitation against cricketer Babar Azam in Pakistan's Federal Invertigative Agency. (FIA) Azam, who is the ODI captain of Pakistan might be in big trouble from the authorities if the charges are proven to be true.
Hamiza Mukhtar, who filed a complaint with the FIA accusing that Babar Azam blackmailed her and posed threats to harras her. Last year, the same woman had claimed that the Pakistan captain sexually exploited her, forced her to undergo an abortion and also made false promises of marriage. Hamiza Mukhtar is a woman based in Lahore. She tried to register a case against Azam once, but somehow, it was not registered.
She has filed a fresh complaint now with the FIA against unknown callers who are threatening her of unprecedented consequences in response to her complaint initiated against Babar Azam .
The Lahore-court judge has asked the FIA "to proceed further with respect to registration of the FIR against the culprits within the stipulated time following legal formalities”.
Babar's legal counsel, Barrister Haris Azmat while arguing in favor of the Pakistan captain said:
"The Honourable High Court in a connected case has already restrained the police from registering the FIR. The instant order has been passed without issuing a notice to Babar in violation of his fundamental rights of fair trial as guaranteed in the constitution. The order is prima facie against the law and will be assailed soon," Babar Azam's legal counsel Barrister Haris Azmat said.
Babar Azam is currently preparinge to leave for South Africa to play 3 ODIs and 4 T20Is in the rainbow nation from April 2 to 16.
