India women's cricket team star spinner, Radha Yadav, was among those affected by the severe flooding in Vadodara, Gujarat, after heavy rains caused the Vishwamitri river to breach its banks, submerging low-lying areas of the city. On Wednesday, she was rescued by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) after being trapped by the rising waters.

Radha Yadav took to Instagram to express her gratitude towards the NDRF for their swift rescue efforts. She shared a video showing NDRF personnel working to evacuate stranded residents, with submerged streets, buildings, and vehicles clearly visible in the footage.

In her post, Yadav conveyed her appreciation, stating, "We are stuck in a very bad situation. Thank you so much #NDRF for rescuing us."

"Stay safe, Baroda. Flooding is widespread, so please stay indoors for your own safety," former India cricketer Irfan Pathan said on X as he advised residents to stay indoors.

The Gujarat floods have claimed at least 26 lives and displaced thousands, with state minister Rushikesh Patel confirming that over 5,000 people were evacuated and another 1,200 rescued from Vadodara on Wednesday alone.

The IMD has warned of extremely heavy rainfall in 12 districts on Thursday, including Kachchh, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Jamnagar, Morbi, Surendranagar, Rajkot, Porbandar, Junagarh, Gir Somnath, Amreli, Bhavnagar, and Botad.

In a post on X, CM Patel said, "Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modiji had a telephonic conversation with me about the heavy rain situation in Gujarat and gathered details of the relief and rescue operations." Modi provided guidance on protection of lives and livestock, and assured all necessary support and assistance from the central government, he said.

"Hon'ble Prime Minister is constantly monitoring the situation by showing concern about Gujarat. He has a deep affection for the people of Gujarat. During natural calamities and whenever needed, he always stands by Gujarat and the people of the state," the CM added.
