London: In a recent development from England, star Indian wicket-keeper, Rishabh Pant has tested positive for Covid-19. The wicketkeeper-batsman has been in home isolation for the past 8 days and won't travel to Durham with the rest of the Indian squad for the practice match. As this news broke, former Indian cricketers wished Rishabh Pant for his speedy recovery from the disease.
"Get well soon champion @RishabhPant17," Harbhajan Singh wrote on Twitter while Raina wrote: "Get well soon brother @RishabhPant17. Wish you a speedy recovery."
Here are both the tweets:
Rishabh Pant has proven to be extremely crucial for the Indian team in the lower order. His ability to bat with the tail-enders and score quick runs has made him earn a place in the Test side. If his Covid-19 situation persists, then Wriddhiman Saha would be the Indian wicket-keeper for England series.
After Rishabh Pant's news, the Indian team's throwdown expert Dayanand Garani has also tested positive. This is the second case after Rishabh Pant was tested positive earlier today. Currently, Pant, Garani and the other two staff members are in isolation and are not travelling with the squad to Durham where India is scheduled to play a practice match from 20 July.
Cricketers getting affected by Covid-19 has been a recurring phenomenon which is a cause of concern, especially among those travelling to England. Recently, the ODI series with Sri Lanka had to be postponed as Sri Lankan support staff were tested positive on return from England.
