Gautam Gambhir Press Conference: The captaincy saga of Indian Cricket Team for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series in Australia has witnessed full clarity now, as head coach Gautam Gambhir has named the deputy of Rohit Sharma in-case of his potential absence.
Star pacer and Test vice-captain, Jasprit Bumrah has been officially announced as the replacement, and with the announcement, the rumours of Virat Kohli captaining the Indian side for one more time has now come to an end.
"Jasprit Bumrah is the vice-captain. If Rohit misses out, he will be the captain," said Gautam Gambhir.

Jasprit Bumrah has captained India on previous occasions as well, as the legendary pacer became the first fast bowler since Kapil Dev to lead the Indian side in a Test match back in 2022, when India played England in the rescheduled 5th Test match, which the hosts (England) won in dramatic fashion, thanks to Johnny Bairstow’s heroics.

The ICT head coach has jumped into the defence of underfire legends - Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, stating that teh Indian side required the 'expertise, inputs, and experience' of these seniors in the Australian conditions, and that, the side 'has a lot of hunger'
"I have no concerns over Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli form. The hunger in that dressing room in important for me and I feel there is a lot of hunger. We have a lot of experienced players who have played in these conditions. Those inputs will be crucial for the young players," said Gautam Gambhir.
