India's former chief selector and part of the Mumbai Indians coaching team, Kiran More has said that Rohit Sharma could become India's captain soon. He also hinted at split captaincy in the Indian team. Split captaincy means different captain for different formats. England has so far adopted the split captain policy.

More said that Kohli has played under MS Dhoni and how long does the Indian captain wants to stay at the position is his call.

“I think the vision of the board drives these things. I believe Rohit Sharma will get a chance soon. Virat Kohli is a shrewd captain who played under MS Dhoni. How long he wants to captain the ODIs and T20s, he will also think. You will learn a lot more about these decisions after the England tour,” Kiran More told India TV on Wednesday.

“It (Split captaincy) should work in India. What the senior players think about the Indian team’s future is very important. With Virat Kohli, captaining three teams isn’t that easy plus he has to perform as well. And I give him the credit for it because performing in every format while captaining and winning… but, I think there will be a time when Virat Kohli will say ‘Now it’s enough, let Rohit lead the side’,” added More.

Mumbai Indians’ scout and wicket-keeping consultant Mr. Kiran More had tested positive for Covid-19. Mr. More became asymptomatic and has recovered now. He was previously, the chief selector of the Indian cricket team. The 58-year old was India's wicket-keeper in the 80s and 90s.
