The first Test match of the five-match Test series between India and England got underway at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday (January 25). While Indian bowlers dominated the first half of the day after the visitors won the toss and elected to bat first and managed to bowl the Three Lions out for 246 in the first innings, by the evening the Indian innings started.

Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal came out to open the innings for India and helped the side off to a blistering start. However, when Rohit came out to bat, a fan managed to breach the security and reach to him. The fan was wearing Virat Kohli jersey and ran up to Rohit to touch his feet. Even though Rohit did not seem too pleased with the fan's gesture, he kept his calm to meet him before he was eventually taken away by the security officials.

India In Front Foot On Day 1

As far as the on-field action is concerned, India had a great day on the field. While their spinners scalped 8 of the 10 wickets to fall with Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja scalping 3 wickets apiece and 2 wickets going Axar Patel's way, Jasprit Bumrah picked up the remaining 2 wickets to help India clean up the Three Lions. For the visitors, Ben Stokes was the highest individual run-scorer, scoring 70 off 88 balls to give them a respectable total on the board.

However, Rohit and Jaiswal then added 80 runs for the first wicket in 12.2 overs which was when Rohit departed to seal the day. Jaiswal completed a half-century off 47 balls. After Rohit got out, Shubman Gill joined him at number 3 as India close in on England's total by the end of the day's play.
