The birth of Plessis second child is not going to affect his participation in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) as the star batsman will reportedly land in UAE in the month of September.

Due Plessis' IPL team Chennai Super Kings  didn't miss the opportunity to wish their player and wrote, “A big #WhistlePodu as Amelie gets to welcome her lil sister Zoey! Cheers to the du Plessis who can now claim to have A to Z! Stay Fafulous guys! #SuperFam.”

Du Plessis has not played a single cricket game since the Coronavirus induced lockdown in March. The veteran last played a 50-overs game (ODI match) in the 2019 World Cup that took place in England.

Plessis was excited to make a much-awaited comeback in the ODI series against team India but the two-month long tour got postponed due to Covid-19 outbreak. As a result, he and the entire South Africa cricket team had to return back to their nation.

In what came as a shocker for everyone in the month of February this year, Plessis had announced he is stepping down as South Africa captain from all formats, citing "the need to facilitate the emergence of next generation of leaders".

"When I took over the leadership, I did so with the commitment to lead, perform and most importantly, to serve. As the team heads into a new direction with new leaders and a young crop of players, I feel it will be in the best interests of South African cricket to relinquish the captaincy in all formats,"said du Plessis in a statement.
