The ODI World Cup 2023 schedule has been announced by the ICC on June 27 (Tuesday) in an event in Mumbai. A total of 10 venues have also been named that will host the tournament that will be spanning 46 days later this year. Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Dharamsala, Delhi, Chennai, Lucknow, Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Kolkata are the venues finalized for the ICC grand event. Cities like Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram alongside Hyderabad will take care of the practice matches that will be held between 29 September to 3 October.
The World Cup is slated to take place on October 5 with a clash between England and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Talking about the last Cricket World Cup that transpired in 2019, the English team sealed the title in a nail-biting thriller with a victory over New Zealand to wrap up a dramatic tournament. The England team started their campaign with a win over South Africa by 104 runs and later followed it up by defeating teams like Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and West Indies. During the entire tournament, the English side lost two games against Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
In the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 that has been announced on Tuesday by the ICC, England after taking on New Zealand will lock horns with Bangladesh on October 10 in Dharamsala. They take on Afghanistan on October 14 in Delhi, then will face South Africa on October 21 in Mumbai, followed by another four high-voltage encounters against Qualifier 2, India, Australia, Qualifier 1, and Pakistan. Currently, the Ben Stokes' team is busy playing the 2023 edition of the Ashes against Australia.
