Dropped from the Australian side for fourth and final Test in Sydney, Aaron Finch and Mitchell Marsh along with fast bowler Peter Siddle, who did not play in the India series but was a part of the 15-member Test squad, will feature in the upcoming matches of the ongoing Big Bash League for their respective franchises.
Finch, who was dropped after opening the batting for Australia in five straight games since making his debut in UAE, is set to play his first match in BBL 8 for the Melbourne Renegades on January 7 against Hobart Hurricanes at Marvel Stadium.
Marsh was cleared to take part in Perth Scorchers’ next fixture against Brisbane Heat at Optus Stadium on January 5. Siddle, on the other hand, will play the following night when the Strikers meet the Sydney Sixers in Adelaide.
Both Marsh and Siddle had played for the Scorchers and Strikers this season after they were not included in Australia’s playing XI for the first two Tests. Siddle, in fact, earned the Player of the Match award for his 3 for 20 on New Year ’s Eve against Sydney Thunder after being released from the Test squad.
Marsh made a comeback in the Boxing Day Test after playing the opening game for Scorchers’. He came in place of local boy Peter Handscomb but surprisingly was ignored for the Sydney Test despite decent performance with the ball.
