Domestic Season 2023-24 Schedule: Ranji Trophy To Commence On January 5 - Report

As per the schedule released by the BCCI, domestic season 2023-24 will begin with Duleep Trophy, which will be played from 28th June, 2024 to 16th July, 2024.

Domestic season 2023-24 Schedule: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) reportedly released the domestic season 2023-24 schedule. The 'most premier' Ranji Trophy will begin from January 5, 2024. The coveted domestic tournament will be played for 70 days, while the final match will be played on 14th March, 2024. As per BCCI, domestic season 2023-24 will begin with Duleep Trophy, which will be played from 28th June, 2024 to 16th July, 2024.

According to a report in Cricbuzz, after Duleep Trophy, Deodhar Trophy will be played from July 24 to August 4. Then the traditional Irani Cup, featuring the Ranji champions (Saurashtra) and Rest of India, will be played from October 1 to 5.

As per the schedule, Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament will be played from October 16 to November 6. After this, the 50-over Vijay Hazare Trophy will be played from 23rd November to 15th December.

Ranji Trophy 2023-24 schedule: Ranji Trophy will have two divisions, Elite and Plate, with four groups of eight teams in the Elite Division and one group of six teams in the Plate Division. Teams in Elite group will play 10 multi-day matches, consisting of seven league games, followed by quarter-finals, semi-finals and the final. Unlike the limited-overs competitions, there will be no amalgamation of elite and plate teams during the Ranji Trophy knockout stage.

Here's how teams were grouped:

Elite Group A: Winners; QF loser Rank 4; Elite Rank 9, 16, 17, 24, 25; and Plate Rank 2. The teams in this group are Saurashtra, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Vidarbha, Haryana, Services, and Manipur.

Elite Group B: Runners-up; QF loser Rank 3; Elite Rank 10, 15, 18, 23, 26; and Plate Rank 1. The teams in this group are Bengal, Andhra, Mumbai, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, and Bihar.

Elite Group C: SF loser Rank 1; QF loser Rank 2; Elite Rank 11, 14, 19, 22, 27; and Elite Rank 30. The teams in this group are Karnataka, Punjab, Railways, Tamil Nadu, Goa, Gujarat, Tripura, and Chandigarh.

Elite Group D: SF loser Rank 2; QF loser Rank 1; Elite Rank 12, 13, 20, 21, 28, 29. The teams in this group are Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Baroda, Delhi, Odisha, Pondicherry, and Jammu and Kashmir.

Plate Group: Elite Rank 31, 32; Plate Rank 3, 4, 5, 6. The teams in this group are Nagaland, Hyderabad, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Mizoram, and Arunachal Pradesh.
