Veteran Ab de Villiers expressed his excitement to play cricket again after becoming part of own home-grown T20 league, Mzansi Super League. De Villiers is all set to take part in MSL next month, which is Cricket South Africa's new T20 competition. The 34-year-old will end his retirement with a comeback in the opening weekend of the League in November, after a six-month break from the game.
After announcing his retirement from international cricket at the end of the 2018 edition of the India Premier league, De Villiers, will be seen playing for the Tshwane Spartans squad.
At the Tshwane Spartans launch, De Villiers said, “I haven't played cricket for a while, but I am getting back into the swing of things. I have had these kinds of breaks before and it is always a challenge to get fit and hit balls again. I am really looking forward to that, and what will be a really good challenge in the Mzansi Super League."
De Villiers also said that he believed that MSL, which CSA's another attempt at their own T20 league, was a major development in South African cricket.
"It is a huge step in the right direction for Cricket South Africa, and South African cricket," he said. "As a unit, we'll be looking to not just pull this tournament off, but make it a great spectacle for fans around the world to enjoy."
