London: There are many incidents on the cricket field which become historical. One such incident was when former Team India captain and current BCCI President Sourav Ganguly waved his shirt in the air on the Lord's ground.
Ganguly played 113 Tests and 311 ODIs for India. When he waved his jersey in the air victorious innings of Team India at Lord's against England, it became a memorable moment. However, at the time of this historic incident, a player from Team India was trying to stop Ganguly. Ganguly himself narrated the incident in a talk show.
Who 'forbade' Ganguly to take off his jersey?
When Sourav Ganguly was taking off his jersey to celebrate the victory at Lord's, VVS Laxman was trying to stop him from doing so. He did not want 'Dada' to do this. Ganguly himself mentioned it .

Sourav Ganguly said on this, 'Yes this is true. I was on the side. VVS Laxman was on my right and Harbhajan Singh was behind. As soon as I tried to open the shirt, VVS Laxman would pull it down and keep saying no. ''
Sourav Ganguly further said, "There were different types of people in that team. Me, Bhajji, Veeru, Zaheer were all North Indian. On the other hand there were Rahul Dravid and Laxman. There was a good mix in the team at that time."

Ganguly was 'embarrassed' for taking off his shirt
The BCCI President further said, "However, I was a little embarrassed by that incident. My daughter said - what were you doing. Should this be done in cricket? So I told my younger daughter that I did it by mistake."
