The Zimbabwe Cricket dropped former skippers Brendon Taylor and Graeme Cremer from the their T20 squad for the tri-series against Australia and Pakistan. Sikander Raza, Sean Williams and Craig Williams are also among the major absentees in the 22-member training squad.

Zimbabwe will be without five of their main players for the triangular series which is slated to begin on July 1 at the Harare sports club in Zimbabwe.

The series itself was in doubt after the players refused to train over unpaid salaries issue. The Zimbabwe players are still waiting for their match fees from last July’s tour to Sri Lanka and a three months outstanding salary.

Not everyone who has been named in the 22-man training squad is willing to play in the tri-series and couple of players are expected pull out after the 25 June deadline.

The Zimbabwe Cricket, on the other hand, has admitted that it could only make the payments after July 25.

The absence of star players has made way for senior players Elton Chigumbura, who returns after 2-year hiatus and Hamilton Masakadza.
