BCCI to amend policy on WAGs company during away tours

According to the policy that previously existed, wives of the players and support staff could stay with them (team) for not more than two weeks

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to amend its policies, allowing the wives and girlfriends of the players to travel with their partners on away tours. The decision comes after Indian captain Virat Kohli had requested the BCCI to do so.

According to The Times of India, The Committee of Administrators has agreed to allow WAGs to be with their partners after the first 10 days of an overseas tour till the end of it.

Indian captain Virat Kohli had urged the BCCI to allow players' wives to stay with them for full overseas tours. According to the policy that previously existed, wives of the players and support staff could stay with them (team) for not more than two weeks.

According to media reports, Kohli first approached a top BCCI official with the issue and in turn, was assured that his message will be conveyed to the Committee of Administrators (CoA).

Former India captain Gautam Gambhir also had shared his opinion on the issue.

"Some want family to be there for the whole tour while others want little family time and they try to concentrate (on cricket)," Gambhir had told India Today.
