The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the squads for the second and third matches between India A and England Lions, with Rinku Singh joining the team for the latter. Abhimanyu Easwaran, a standout in domestic cricket, will retain his captaincy for the Indian team in the multi-day matches. The India A team are engaged in a series of three unofficial Test matches against England Lions, concurrent with the five-match India vs England Test series. The first Test is scheduled to commence on January 25 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

In addition to Rinku Singh, BCCI has included 19-year-old Kumar Kushagra in the squad, who recently secured an Indian Premier League deal with Delhi Capitals in the December 2023 auction. Kushagra will replace KS Bharat and Dhruv Jurel, who have been called up to the first team for the five-match series against England. Upendra Yadav is listed as the other wicket-keeper for the two games. The squad features several white-ball regulars and players on the fringes of the first team, including Arshdeep Singh and Washington Sundar.

The first tour match between the two teams concluded in a draw, while the second tour match and the first Unofficial Test seem to be leaning towards a potential win for the England Lions. Interestingly, BCCI has decided to omit Sarfaraz Khan from the India-A squad for the third and ultimate multi-day match, despite his notable contributions as one of the top performers for the host side.
